Many people have a fear of going to the dentist.
Sunshine Coast Smile Centre is committed to helping our patients overcome any feelings of anxiety, fear or apprehension about seeing a dentist.
In many cases a fear of going to the dentist is the outcome of a bad experience. Unfortunately the longer the delay making an appointment the harder it becomes to get the courage to go.
Delaying booking an appointment can sometimes result in a toothache and then the negative association between the dentist and pain is accentuated.
The fear and association between pain and visiting the dentist can be significantly reduced by attending for regular preventative appointments.
Our Dental Culture is based around the concept of achieving and also maintaining strong and healthy teeth.
“Sunshine Coast Smile Centre is committed to helping our patients overcome any feelings of anxiety, fear or apprehension about seeing a dentist.”
Whenever treating a nervous or anxious patient we listen to their fears and we do this without judgement. If we can understand where your fear has come from we can begin to work towards reducing it.
Should you feel nervous please do not be embarrassed to tell us how you feel. If you find it hard to tell us verbally, try writing it down.
For many people building a relationship with their dentist is enough to overcome their fear. Seeing the same dentist allows you to develop trust and confidence in them.
Before your first dental appointment we suggest you come into the practice to have a look around.
For some people having a tour of our practice gives them a boost of confidence. Especially when they can see the state-of-the-art technology we use and also the comfortable surroundings in which our dentists do their work.
Our treatment studios are equipped with a ceiling mounted TV allowing our patients to enjoy our In Chair Entertainment System. This creates a fun environment for children and is also a pleasant distraction for nervous patients.
Over the years Sunshine Coast Smile Centre has treated many patients who have overcome their initial fear of the dentist.
